Check the Box

At the time of this writing we are in the midst of intense voting season. A high percentage of the ads on TV, radio, and other media are political. Which candidate are going to vote for? Which candidate has the best record and background that would advocate for your issues? Which candidate has your party backing? Which candidate checks the right boxes?

Check the right boxes. We’ve all heard that phrase before. The candidate checks certain items on a list that makes him or her favorable to his constituents. Male or female or “whatever “. Black, Asian. White, Native American, or whatever. Married or single. You get the picture. I decided I would go through a probable list and see what boxes I could check off.

The first box is sex. I am a man, male. I’m not anything in between or a different thought of my own distorted imagination. My sinful nature did not tell me otherwise. I am a man made after the image of God. “So God created man in his own image” Genesis 1:27 NIV84. Well, I start out checking a box not favorable.

The next box is married, unmarried, widowed, or other. I’m happily married for over 43 years. I believe in the sanctity of marriage. “For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh” Genesis 2:24 NIV84. I do not believe in the other unholy forms of relationship that the world condones. The Lord did not create man for such things. For Paul said in I Corinthians 6:19”Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body.” NIV84.

What race am I is the next box. Another poor choice I’m white of German descendants. You might as well say I’m an old white guy. All the wrong boxes all over. I just can’t meet the standards of the world view, the view the mainstream media wants any public figure to project. I’m not that guy.

Let me tell you who I am. I’m a child of GOD. Not any god, but the real GOD. The God of Adam and Eve; of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; of King David; of Peter and Paul. Yes, I mean the famous people of the Bible the Word of GOD. I believe every word of the Bible is true translated from the ancient Hebrew and Greek text. I don’t pick and choose what words to believe, every word of the Bible is true. I Am a Christian.

There I said it. I don’t fit into a box the media or the world chooses. I fit into the loving arms of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I don’t hide behind phrases and gimmicks the world dreams up, I rest in the knowledge that I’m redeemed and saved by the work of Jesus. I know that some day I’ll be with Him in heaven. That is where I fit. Where do you fit in the eyes of the world? Are you trying to check the boxes or are you secure in the arms of Christ?

Let me know. Comment after this article. I’d like to hear from others

Until next time, yours in Christ, David G Spietz.
