In those days Caesar Augustus issued a degree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world. (This was the first census that took place while Quirinius was governor of Syria) And everyone went to his own town to register. Luke 2 : 1&2 NIV
We all have read, listen to, or even memorized the second chapter of the Gospel of Luke. The story of the birth of Our Savior Jesus is story that all people know about but do ever .wonder why all the government officials are mentioned. We know who was the Caesar, the local governor, and even the local ruler puppet of the empire, and the Priest at the temple. Boy, this puts us knowing right away the time in that the birth of Christ happened. Wait, isn't this exactly what God wanted.
God needed the right time for our salvation to come. God knew the right time for the season. The reason for the season was the birth of God's son to a woman on earth. Jesus became a man for us to save us from ourselves. So at the right time Jesus was born in Bethlehem when Quirinius was governor of Syria.
Now look at our time in history, do we have the right time. In the past and I'm talking the recent past at the time of year ( Christmas Time) it was wrong and even consider almost a sin to say Merry Christmas. You couldn't say anything about Jesus birthday in public and the scene of the
manger in the barn with Mary and Joseph could not be in any public area.
Now we have a Christian president and the Bible is studied and welcomed in the White House. It helps with the leadership at the top. If the man at the top brings Jesus out into the public without the out roar from others in public, then the little situations around the country have the strength to stand up to the small cry to stop the Christmas celebration.
Take the time on your own to celebrate the birth of Jesus. Make this your time just God knew the right to bring His Son for us to save us. Tell others that you celebrate the birth of Jesus. The time is always right to talk about Jesus and say Merry Christmas and Happy Jesus Birthday.
